More open-ended project than midterms. Can deal with exploring human motion through a physical system (similar to midterms) or expressing understanding of biomechanics through other mediums – video, sound, generative artwork, etc.
Option 1: Functional prototype and demonstration (documentation: blog post)
Option 2: Paper prototype (documentation: Report research in the form of a draft of a publication quality paper (to be continued for final). This paper will follow the general format of Introduction, Methods, Results, and Discussion.
Comparing human movement between two or more attempts at the same task
Using inertial measurement units (combo of accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer) to determine body segment orientation
Using the accelerometer, gyroscope, and magnetometer in the iPhone (or similar phone) to determine body segment orientation, track movement, determine gait parameters, visualize movement, etc.
Quantified self hacking – extending and exploiting the capabilities of off the shelf sensors (Fitbit, etc.)
Motion tracking with wearable sensors – wired or wireless
Robotic walking, balance, and control
Biomechanics related games for physical therapy and exercise
